At a very young age my parents taught me not to gossip. I must admit I think it’s something we all struggle with at some point in our lives, whether we’re speaking it or just listening to it. Over the years I’ve come to realize that gossip has been given a bad rap! Have you ever considered that there’s actually GOOD gossip? Someone once told me that the kindest thing we can do for our friends and family is to love them behind their back. I gave that a lot of thought and really tried to process what it means to “love someone behind their back.” I realized it’s OK to talk about people as long as it’s loving, supportive and kind. On that note, I overheard some juicy gossip this morning in the waiting room of our office!! One of our patients was in with our Physician Assistant, Diane Asmuth. The patient’s mother came out into the waiting room and called someone on her phone to update them on the progress of the patient. I giggled to myself when the first thing out of her mouth was, “I have no idea who she was, but she was so thorough!” I immediately knew it was Diane. She went on to explain how Diane discussed the condition with them in great detail, explained the possible options to consider next, as well as some testing that needed to be done first. She again stated what a great visit she had and how pleased she was that it went so well. I wish more people could hear such kind words. As patients, we often we see the same provider year after year and don’t leave ourselves open to meeting someone new. I am personally guilty of this very thing! It is sometimes presumed that since they don’t have the title of “doctor” that they are somehow less than, or unable to treat our condition as well as the doctor would. Rest assured that our Physician Assistant’s are the best! I only hear amazing things about them time and time again as patients meet them for the first time and realize what they’ve been missing. Many of those patients prefer to schedule their next appointment with that same provider. Great relationships are formed here, and not just with the doctor! Rest assured that whomever you end up seeing in our office, you will be pleased with the care and service you are provided. And when you leave here after your visit feel free to gossip, I’m confident it will be the good stuff!
