“Check up from the neck Up”

In our medically monitored weight loss program we talk a lot about dietary changes to improve health, exercise routines to improve health, hydration, sleep, and shopping habits to improve our overall health. However, I feel like a key aspect of our overall health gets slightly left out. Mental health is essential in maintaining a balanced lifestyle and listening to your body.

At our last group meeting we reviewed wonderful resources from Mental Health America (MHA) in assessing our overall mental health by addressing our emotions, recognizing the challenges in changing dietary behaviors, and taking the next steps to work through our mental “road-blocks.”

MHA’s tools for screening are available on their website at MHAscreening.org

They also have resources in working through emotions and setting up a routine to help reduce stress in your day.
