Terra Schmid is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has worked in mental/behavioral health for over ten years. She has also worked with a diverse population, with a wide range of ethnic, social, economic, and family backgrounds. She has extensive experience working with children, teens, couples, and families providing parental support when needed and helping to nurture those relationships. She is trained in The Gottman Method and EFT (Emotional Focused Couples Therapy). She has facilitated classes addressing Domestic Violence, Anger management, and Child Endangerment.
Her approach in therapy is to offer a compassionate and non-judgmental atmosphere where you can feel safe to be YOU. She works with a variety of mental health symptoms, life stressors, and diagnoses. Stress, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, family/relational difficulties, and trauma. She incorporates art therapy into her work and uses other experiential type modalities as well.
As a therapist she has also studied integrative medicine and nutrition for mental health providers, hoping to bridge the gap between mental and physical health. She believes the mind, body and soul do not live independently from each other but rather interdependently, meaning they are all connected and affect one another.
She has brought this enthusiasm to Healthy Living Primary Care. She is excited to work alongside like-minded individuals who believe in the power of a holistic approach to treatment. Healing (both physically and mentally) happens when we feel safe, seen, and connected. She is honored to be a part of a team that truly cares for their patients.
