Family Medicine

Dr. Liz Hernandez, M.D.

Dr. Hernandez is a board certified Family Medicine Physician. She immigrated to California from Colombia in 2005.

Dr. Hernandez spent several years doing medical research at UCSF prior to completing her medical residency at the University Health Science at Texas Tech in El Paso, TX. She is passionate about preventive care and a strong advocate of healthy lifestyle choices, stress reduction, great mental/emotional health, non-narcotic pain management, and active patient involvement in decision making. Dr. Hernandez’s goal is to provide comprehensive, high quality, and evidence-based medicine to her patients. She wants to develop long-term relationships, rooted in mutual trust, with the common goal of optimum mental and physical health with her patients.

Dr. Hernandez comes to us from the Bay Area and speaks fluent Spanish. She looks forward to using her multi-cultural background and medical knowledge to serve the community and her patients.

Dr. Hernandez focuses her practice on three key aspects:

  • Ethics/Integrity/Availability. Dr. Hernandez will be there for her patients when they need her.  She strives to provide timely care and the highest quality of care, with total professionalism and uncompromising integrity and ethics.  Dr. Hernandez continuously tout – “always do right by the patient.”
  • Comprehensive Approach. Dr. Hernandez takes a holistic view of her patients.  That illuminates her approach to treatment options.  She provides comprehensive care that takes into account the latest medical technologies/treatments as well as the patient’s cultural, social and emotional needs.  One-size-fit-all medicine here is not practiced here.  Dr. Hernandez takes her time to listen and understand the patient and then enlists her patients’ collaboration to determine the best path forward.
  • Educating. Patients won’t take anything away from a discussion with a doctor if they don’t understand it. That’s why Dr. Hernandez believes in answering her patients’ questions — and even the questions they don’t ask. She takes the time to learn about each patient’s unique situation and educates them on the options and strategies they can choose from. By providing patients with the most appropriate and necessary information, she invites her patients to participate in their own care and take ownership for their own health.
