Kali’s Journey

Jan. 8, 2019
Hi everyone! Kali again. When the staff here got back from our winter break, we were all feeling the effects of all that good holiday food. Well, yesterday we started a friendly weight loss competition here at work! It’s our way to get back into our healthy habits while encouraging each other along the way. The competition ends on Valentine’s Day and we will be weighing in once a week starting next week. Yesterday was Day 1 and I am at the starting weight of 149. I have started back up on my diet and am increasing my time at the gym. Having someone to compete with really drives me to try my hardest, and gives me more power to say no to the junk food I want. I will keep you guys updated with my progress. Next weigh in is on Thursday the 17th, wish me luck!

Hi everyone! Kali here, sorry I haven’t updated lately! The weight loss competition ended and I got third place! I was a bit disappointed I didn’t get second or first, but if I’m being honest, I sort of gave up towards the end. I hit that infamous weight loss plateau and lost hope. I fell, but I refuse to stay down! After a week or two of difficulty sticking to my diet, I wanted to break out of that plateau. I was able to get back down to 140lbs. Since I am close to hitting my goal weight of 130lbs, I am starting to transition away from my meal replacement shakes and add more real food to my diet. Now when I exercise, I am aiming for more weights and less cardio than I used to. Last week I went to the gym 5 days and I plan to keep going 4-5 times to week to build muscle and burn off fat. I have been replacing sweets like frozen yogurt (my weakness!) with fruit salad and replacing my snacks with high protein options like nuts or cheese. I will keep you guys updated, but in the meantime, I would love ideas from you on your favorite healthy recipes! Wish me luck!!

Kali here with another update to my weight loss journey! I thought I would give you guys an updated progress picture! The photo on the right was actually taken about a month ago before I started my super dedicated diet this month. The photo on the left was about 3 years ago when I was at my heaviest, around 212 lbs. The photo on the right I am about 142 lbs, a 70 lb difference!

I had an appointment with our nutritionist Becca yesterday morning and my body comp looked great! I was at 137.4 which means 75 lbs lost total! After going over my body composition analysis (which I will show you guys next week with comparisons to my old ones) we decided that I should adjust my goal from 130 to 134. I am at a healthy BMI, with a healthy fat percentage. As I near my goal (only 3.4 lbs to go now!!) I am going to worry less about dieting and the number on the scale and worry more about building my muscle. I am excited to make this transition as I have found that using weights at the gym is a lot of fun!

Even though my goal is so close, my journey is far from over!
